Actors Susan Sarandon, Shailene Woodley, Danny Glover and Rosario Dawson, along with documentarian Josh Fox and the group Nurses for Bernie Sanders, held an impromptu news conference in one of the media tents outside the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Wednesday night.
The group spoke in support of prominent Bernie Sanders supporter and former Ohio Senator Nina Turner, whom Sarandon called a “beloved and respected surrogate” for Sanders. Sarandon said the group felt Turner was disrespected when she was told at the last minute she would not be speaking in support of Sanders during the DNC’s Monday and Tuesday evening sessions.
Sarandon said it was Sanders’ wish for Turner to introduce him. “This did not happen,” she said, “This is upsetting to us. We stand in solidarity with her.”
Sarandon said she was not sure exactly what happened with Turner — credentials were not revoked from Turner and she was not ejected from the convention — but the group continued to occupy the area and speak about what they felt was the injustice performed upon Turner.
Turner briefly joined the group and the massive scrum of reporters but took few questions and exited with the celebrities and other supporters.
Josh Fox has completely lost my respect.
He says he is working to save the planet.
Yet he is working FOR the RT news network, which is a Putin-financed propaganda arm of Russian
policy.
He says he can split hairs which prevent him from supporting Hillary Clinton.
Yet he is now WORKING FOR the biggest personal earner from Oil/Gas/Coal/Fracking on the planet.
Until Josh Fox publicly REPUDIATES Putin and Russia’s attempts to destroy the planet and line their
own pockets in the process, do not believe a word he says.
REPUDIATE PUTIN AND RUSSIA Josh Fox, or SHUT UP.
