It’s official. Former President and now President-elect Donald Trump won all seven swing states in the 2024 presidential election.

On Saturday, Trump was declared the winner of Arizona, the last state to be called.

This legitimizes what was known a few days ago: Trump will become the next President of the United States of America.

With Nevada and Arizona finally called, Trump has a total of 312 electoral college votes (ECV), with Vice President Kamala Harris remaining at 226 ECV, according to AP News.

Over the past five election cycles, the American people chose a Democratic President-elect for three of those years with the outcome relying on that year’s swing states.

During election cycles, a handful of states can decide the next president due to the unpredictability of those voting in those states. Other states, however, lean more towards one side and can be easily predicted to stay that way during the election.

This election’s decisive swing states were Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

A notable change in post-election results is Nevada’s shift to red. After being blue for 16 years, Nevada flipped red in this presidential election. Over the past 24 years, three states known as the “blue wall” — Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan — have only swung red under a Trump presidential win in 2016 and 2024.

President Joe Biden won six of the seven swing states in 2020, giving the current president 306 ECV compared to Trump’s 232, according to the Electoral College National Archives. North Carolina, the only swing state Trump won in 2020, remained red in 2024.

In 2020, Biden flipped five states: Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia. This year, the GOP flipped the same states including Nevada from blue to red compared to the 2020 election. Biden won these six states by a slim margin in the last presidential election.

According to AL Jazeera’s data, a nationwide red shift occurred in 2024; all 50 states leaned approximately 2-4% more red since 2020. Even the states Harris won shifted rightward.

With a successful 2024 campaign, Trump increased the number of votes he and the Republican Party received in every state compared to 2020.
