After months of discussion, the Massachusett Tribe at Ponkapoag is proposing Boston University change the name of Myles Standish Hall, ditching the name of the colonial military leader in favor of a title honoring a Native American figure killed by Standish, Wituwamat.
Dr. Travis Franks, a postdoctoral associate at the university, reached out to the tribe and launched a petition regarding changing the dorm’s name. Emma Kopelowicz reports!
