As your roommates, chem partners, and that one guy you see everywhere on campus are traveling home for Thanksgiving, you will not be spending your Thanksgiving break in your dorm, watching Love Island for the fourth time.

Here’s a list of fun events to do before, during, and after Thanksgiving!

For when you’re in an I-want-to-fill-my-feed mood:

The 2025 SoWa Winter Festival, located in Boston’s South End, opens on Black Friday. For $10, the festival hosts over 100 local vendors, featuring live music, holiday-themed food, art, lights, and knick-knacks.

SoWa Power Station

550 Harrison Ave

Boston, Massachusetts 02118

For when you’re in a spending mood:

Hop on the T to Government Center, get off at Park Street, switch to Alewife on the Red Line, and get off at Quincy Center. A short walk later will lead you to the Kilroy Square Holiday Market, running from Friday, Nov. 28, through Sunday, Nov. 30, with over 90 local vendors.

Kill two birds with one stone: get out of the dorm and your Christmas gift shopping out of the way!

25 Cottage Avenue

Quincy Massachusetts 02169

Looking to get away from the city? Take the Red Line, get off at Central to walk around what across-the-bridge-students call a typical Sunday: enjoying thrift and consignment stores, record shops, bakeries such as Verveine Cafe & Bakery, which offers a 100% gluten-free menu.

650 Massachusetts Ave

Cambridge, MA 02139

For when you’re hungry:

I know, I know, very basic, but let a girl live! Try the new winter menu at Blank Street, with recently released drink flavors such as Espresso Martini Latte, Blondie, and Earl Grey.

A few good locations for the famous matcha shop are Boylston & Dartmouth Street, and Harvard & Thorndike Street!

Boylston & Dartmouth St:

647 Boylston Street,

Boston, MA, 02116

Harvard & Thorndike St:

455 Harvard Street,

Brookline, MA, 02446

Wanting a real Thanksgiving meal? Restaurants such as CAPO, Area Four, and New City Creamery are offering Thanksgiving-themed take-out, to-go, and pick-up options.

For more info, go to Boston Chefs for a list of over 80 options.

For when you want to zone out:

A quick T-ride from campus will take you to Trident Booksellers & Café, which is hosting a screening of “Nightmare Before Christmas” on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 7:00 p.m.

338 Newbury St,

Boston, MA 02115

In an artistic mood? The Museum of Fine Arts is free for residents and university students with a school ID. Be sure to check out the new Of Light and Air: Winslow Homer in Watercolor exhibition. Grab your tote bag (because everyone owns one at this point), your headphones, and embrace your inner performative man.

465 Huntington Ave,

Boston, MA 02115

For the day of Thanksgiving:

Get tickets to classic, foreign, independent, or midnight cult films such as “Hamnet,” “Eternity, or “Rental Family,” all of which are playing on Thanksgiving at the Coolidge Corner Theatre.

290 Harvard St,

Brookline, MA 02446

Treat yourself to your favorite meal, FaceTime a loved one, put on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade or a movie, and relax! Finals week is totally not in three weeks! Either way, you’re not going to freak out over that final paper today.
