60 pianos painted by 60 artists have been scattered throughout the city since September 23 as part of the Celebrity Series of Boston. In Copley Square, Tiantian, 6, takes a seat outside of the Boston Public Library. The pianos, which all sport the invitation, “Play Me, I’m Yours,” are part of a community-focused art installation started by Luke Jerram in 2008. The pianos will remain until October 10. “I’ve been trying to grab a piano for a while now. Every time I pass, someone has been playing. It’s such a cool public art project. It’s cool to see people playing music on a piece of art. They were here a couple of years ago, but I never had the courage to play. This is my first time.” – Haven Jones, a first-year graduate student in Boston University’s School of Social Work, outside of George Sherman Union. Photo by Graham Pearsall/BU News Service
