District Council 35 members are organizing in response to the Marriott hotel’s decision to hire out-of-state subcontractors for room renovations.
The Marriott gave a contract for hotel renovation work to Commercial Renovation Service, a Florida-based construction company. Local unions argue that out-of-state workers are being paid wages significantly lower than standard for work in the Greater Boston area.
Since last week, Boston’s Marriott Copley Place has been picketed. WTBU’S Vanessa Bartlett has more.
