Sen. Ed Markey defeated Republican challenger Kevin O’Connor in the Massachusetts senate race Tuesday night, keeping his seat for another term.

Markey’s victory comes following his win over Rep. Joe Kennedy in the Massachusetts Democratic primary in September. Markey has held the senate seat since 2013 and served as a representative for almost 40 years prior.

Along with Markey, Massachusetts confirmed expectations by voting for Democratic candidate Joe Biden for president.
