New York state’s two largest COVID-19 vaccination centers to date opened Wednesday morning.

Located at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn and across town at York College in Queens, the two sites can each administer 3,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine a day.

They also target specifically lower-income communities and communities of color that have been hardest-hit by the pandemic and have lower than average vaccination rates.

“It finally came to us Black people,” Jan Lewis, a Brooklyn resident who has been waiting to get vaccinated for months, said. “We suffered for too, too long.”
