Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey announced her bid for reelection on Tuesday by standing firm against President Donald Trump.

The governor launched her reelection campaign for November’s gubernatorial race in a video, taking a firm stance against Trump while noting her administration’s policies on housing affordability, healthcare deductibles and pushback against federal funding cuts to SNAP benefits late last year.

“We work hard. We look after each other, but these are tough times, and Donald Trump is making everything worse” Healey said in her reelection announcement.

“He’s raising costs, taking away our healthcare, and tearing families apart,” the governor continued. “We see the damage he’s doing to our state and our country, but we’ll never back down.”

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has also taken a similar stance towards Trump’s policies, criticizing the federal administration’s legal action against Boston’s sanctuary policies and temporary suspension of SNAP benefits.

“Against the backdrop of a federal administration’s chaos and cruelty, we faced a choice,” Wu said while speaking to supporters after running uncontested in last November’s election. “Cave to the pressure, backtrack, and change course, or double down on the values that founded our nation.”

“That is what this election was about here in Boston,” the mayor added.

Healey’s bid for reelection comes two days before the governor is expected to give the annual State of the Commonwealth Address.

While no other Democrats have announced a run for office, three Republicans have announced their run for election, including former Massachusetts Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Mike Kennealy, former official for the MBTA Brian Shortsleeve and former medical device company executive Mike Minogue.

“There’s more for us to do, a lot more,” Healey said in her campaign video. “That’s why I’m running for reelection: to lower costs, make life better and stand up to Donald Trump.”
