A car fire impacted traffic and sent black, billowing clouds of smoke over Interstate 90 and Boston University on Sunday afternoon.
The Boston Fire Department reported that the fire was on westbound I-90 right before the toll exit. Fire department officials said the car collided with a roadside sign, though it is unknown if the collision is the cause of the fire.
Firefighters arrived at the scene around 3:45 p.m. The fire was put out, but not before the flames engulfed nearly the entire car. The condition of the driver is unknown, as is the cause of the collision.
