Boston University Police Department issued a campus wide alert Sunday evening regarding a sexual assault that occurred at 700 Commonwealth Ave., Warren Towers in the early morning hours. The assault was reported to BUPD at 3 p.m.
At this time there is no description of the suspect available and identity remains unknown. The incident is actively under investigation. BUPD requests that any information of the assault be reported at 617-353-2121 or anonymously via text to TIP411.
Students that have been sexually assaulted have numerous resources available to them including the Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Center. The center offers counseling services that will accompany victims to the police station to file a report.
According to the center’s website a crisis intervention counselor can help “regain control during a time that control of something vital has been taken away.” The center is bound by law to maintain confidentiality of information disclosed, but also works to provide the necessary knowledge and support to students.
While the center’s main focus is sexual trauma and rape, they also assist survivors of physical assault, interpersonal violence and other crimes. The center is available 24/7 at 617-353-SARP (7277).
