Following the footsteps of Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, Mila Kunis was honored on Thursday by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals as their 2018 Woman of the Year.
Surrounded by club members in drag costumes, Kunis was paraded through the streets of Cambridge prior to the famous Hasting roast and receiving her prestigious award, the Pudding Pot.
Kunis didn’t hold back on her entertaining skills during the performance. The mother of two even got to throw donuts at one cast member’s face.
Known for her performance in movies and television shows such as “Family Guy,” “That ’70s Show” and “Ted,” Kunis, along with husband Ashton Kutcher, has been advocating for equality in the work place, which has been a hot topic over the past year.
“Putting women in a higher position in the workforce will change the world,” Kunis said in the press conference following the events. “It has been statistically proven.”
Since its founding in 1765, Hasty Pudding has been an exclusive club featuring male actors only. While the oldest theatrical organization of its kind in the nation has been awarding women in the entertainment industry since 1951, none have been cast to the actual show. Audition opportunities have been given to both male and female actors but the award is the closest to the stage women of the club have reached.
However, the club announced they will be casting women for the first time in history starting next year.
Kunis gave the impression that she was approached by the ivy league club previously but waited for this moment to accept the honor.
“I do believe in this movement, and I do believe it is making strides in the right direction,” Kunis said at the press conference.
