Yes, You Heard That Right. $60,000 Headphones.

Every year companies try to outdo themselves and each other at CES. Usually there’s a smackdown over who has the biggest TV or the smartest kitchen appliance. And while there are lots of headphones on display for audiophiles to love, there’s one that’s truly distinctive — for its price tag.

The $60,000 Sennheiser HE1 system is about the same price as one year’s tuition for Boston University. It comes with an amplifier made from Carrara marble and features cool glowing vacuum tubes. The price tops the pair offered by the company in 1991 which went for a mere $16, 000.
