Winter Storm Warning Issued For Boston

A winter storm may bring up to 8 inches of snow to the area Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 100 percent chance of snow and sleet on Friday morning. Snow is expected to fall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wind gusts could reach 29 mph, and snow accumulation is forecasted to be between 4 inches and 8 inches.

The heaviest snowfall is expected during Friday’s rush hour.

The winter storm warning is in effect until 3 p.m. Friday. Because of the hazardous conditions, Boston Public Schools will not hold classes on Friday.

Other areas affected by the warning are central and eastern Massachusetts, northern Connecticut and northern Rhode Island.
