Barbershops have traditionally functioned as community watering holes where men can gather for a shave, a cut, and a chat. And while most hair salons now cater to both sexes and offer quick trims at low prices, the charm of an old fashioned barbershop still breeds a sentimental loyalty among its customers. BU News Service reporter Carly Sitrin went to Tweed Barbers on Washington street to try and capture that “neighborhood institution” feel.
