So why are you running the Boston Marathon this year?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am running the marathon because it has been my goal ever since freshman year. I was a distance runner in high school and this just felt like the best way to say goodbye to my city since I am leaving for D.C. after graduation. I am running for the Goodwill team, specifically their kids’ programs.<\/p>\n

What does running the Boston Marathon mean to you, as opposed to other [racing] opportunities?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The marathon is more important to me because, for one, it is the hardest thing I have done to date, so it’s definitely a good challenge. Secondly, Boston has been my city for the last 4 years, and I think this is a perfect way to end my time in Boston before I move.<\/p>\n

Is there anything specific you’re thinking about for race day \u2014\u00a0good or bad? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I am thinking about everything for race day. (Laughs) I am pretty nervous.<\/p>\n

But I know that I have done the training and put in the work, so I know I will be okay. This is my first time doing a marathon, but I have done five half-marathons before this. I hope it’s something I will remember forever and look back on with a sense of accomplishment. I also am hoping to start a tradition to run a marathon in every city I live in.<\/p>\n

What does it mean for you to be a Boston University student representing in the marathon? Do you feel a lot of Boston pride?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I think being a college student has made this event even more special. By the time I get back to Boston [at the end of the race, which starts in Hopkinton and ends in Copley Square], all my friends will be waiting there to cheer me on. It’s been amazing to have their support during training and I can’t wait to see them on the course as well.<\/p>\n
