Audio story: E-scooters come to Brookline, offer a new way to get around

BOSTON — Electric scooters are popping up in cities across the United States. And Brookline is the first Massachusetts town to allow them. As of Monday morning, about 200 Lime and Bird scooters — two e-scooter companies — can be found parked along Brookline streets. But e-scooters aren’t just for a joy ride. Town officials and e-scooter companies are creatively trying to solve environmental and transit problems that come from too many cars on the road.
