Chances are that you’ve heard their hit “Hey There Delilah” hundreds of times before. The multi-platinum selling band is making its way through Boston in early November, so it’ll be the perfect chance to belt out all those rock ballads in one setting. AW

Buddy Guy
The world legend gets thrown around a lot when we talk about musical artists who have been around a while, but if anyone has earned the moniker, it’s Buddy Guy. The man who showed Jimi Hendrix how to play guitar with his teeth, Guy is still going strong at 79. He’s one of the last links to the classic Chess Records lineup, a lofty crew that also included Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley and Little Walter. JG

Ta-Nehisi Coates at Harvard
Brought to you by the Black Student Union at Harvard University, Ta-Nehisi Coates is a best-selling author, 2015 MacArthur Fellow, and writer for The Atlantic. He’s one our country’s best thinkers on race and racial tensions, and his 2014 book “Between the World and Me,” written as a letter to his teenaged son, has been making waves throughout the media world and beyond. If you’re lucky, he’ll talk about his new project, a Black Panther comic series for Marvel. There’s a lottery for tickets, so get on that. MQ

The Lynch Family Skatepark Ribbon-Cutting
The much anticipated Lynch Family Skatepark is finally opening. Located on the banks of the Charles River and built by the Charles River Conservancy, the skatepark was designed with input from over 400 local and pro skaters including Boston legend Andy MacDonald. MW

Dave Rawlings Machine
Dave Rawlings is the longtime musical partner of americana singer Gillian Welch. The pair usually tours as a duo under Welch’s name, with Welch singing lead and Rawlings on harmony vocals and lead guitar. As the Dave Rawlings Machine, they play with a full band while Rawlings takes the lead. Expect expert harmonies, lovelorn lyrics and picking that errs on the jazzy side of bluegrass and country. JG

Bo Burnham
Comedian Bo Burnham is returning to Boston for a three-show series at the Shubert Theatre. His Make Happy Tour earlier this spring was met with widespread success, most of it selling out completely. Tickets for his return are bound to do the same, so act fast. AW

The Flamin’ Groovies
The Flamin’ Groovies are a criminally unsung garage rock band that helped lay the foundation for punk in the ’60s. In the ’70s they pioneered a bright, jangly guitar pop sound that would later be a major influence on REM and other ’80s indie bands. They are still trucking after 50 years. JG
