The fall semester is over, but finals are just getting started for many of us. Why do we have to do them again? Haven’t we suffered enough over the past few months? Unfortunately that argument doesn’t usually work with professors. Now, libraries and countless cups of coffee are calling. Let this last weekend of respite before the flood bring you some peace. Go have some fun at these Boston events, and try not to think about all the flash cards you need to make.
Fingersmith
The job seems simple at first: All pickpocket Sue Trinder has to do is help a con man cheat a gullible young heiress out of her fortune. But nothing is quite what it seems in this mystery set in the shadows of Victorian England. Spiraling through London streets, madhouses, and a stifling mansion with a shocking secret, Sue finds herself in the most dangerous landscape of all, awakening sexuality, love, and betrayal.

Baconfest with Munch and The Bacon Truck
The Munch Mobile Kitchen is teaming up with the good folks at The Bacon Truck for a day of smoky, salty, bacon-y goodness! Snag a beer in the Taproom and a delicious bacon dish from the food trucks outside. Bacon sandwiches, bacon sides, bacon by the handful, bacon donuts, bacon truffles, bacon everything. You can even make some bacon ART on the patio.

Boston City Hall Plaza Winter Wonderland
Anchored by New England’s first custom-designed Skating Path and a Holiday Shopping Market, Boston Winter includes a nearly 11,000 square foot outdoor ice Skating Path open through February, offering learn-to-skate programs and many special events. The Holiday Shopping Market will run through New Year’s Eve and include unique attractions and over 40 chalets with boutique style shops offering a wide array of gifts and food.

A Far Cry, Gardner Museum’s Resident Chamber Orchestra
A Far Cry has been the Gardner’s Chamber Orchestra in Residence since 2010. What started as a group of 17 young professional musicians has evolved to an 18 member group that expands the way music is prepared, performed, and experienced. The group is known for their self-conducting, musical variety, and involvement in a new generation of classical music. The program, entitled “Zoom In”, will feature Dutilleux, Ainsi la Nuit; Webern, Langsamer Satz;
Muffat, Ciacona from Cto. XII, Propitia sydera; O’Connor, Quartet No. 3, Old-Time.
