We’ve hit December folks, arguably the best month of the year. Well, at least after these first few weeks. It’s also finals crunch time, and that brings high levels of stress and even higher levels of sugar intake. Just remember, fellow students: Taking a break will do you more good than you think! You can only stare at that blank Word doc for so long. Here’s a few ways to calm the nerves and enjoy the holiday season in Boston this weekend:

4th Annual Ugly Sweater Party: A Night in at the Boston Brewery

Bring friends and family, snuggle up with a Winter Lager and play board games all night long while North Shore Acappella treats you to their velvety vocals. Get your comfort food fix while munching on loaded Mac ‘N Cheese provided by Pikliz International and decorating Top Shelf Cookies. Finally, the night would not be complete without judging the holiday getups, so come ready to impress the Sweater Scouts and you just may walk away with a prize!

Where: Samuel Adams Boston Brewery

When: Friday from 6 – 9 p.m.

Cost: $25 if you wear an ugly sweater! Tix HERE.

South Boston Holiday Market

South Boston Holiday Market is a unique holiday event hosted and curated by New England Open Markets, the creators of the popular South End Open Market and the 13th Annual SoWa Holiday Market. The market kicks off the handmade holiday season with an amazing two-day event that brings together the best of New England under one roof in Boston’s hip and trendy design district. More than 130 of the region’s top independent artists, artisans, designers and food-makers will be selling their unique handmade goods for two days.

‘Manchester by the Sea’

In Manchester by the Sea, the latest film from award-winning writer and director Kenneth Lonergan, the life of a solitary Boston janitor is transformed when he returns to his hometown to take care of his teenage nephew. The story of the Chandlers, a working-class family living in a Massachusetts fishing village for generations, is a deeply poignant, unexpectedly funny exploration of the power of familial love, community, sacrifice and hope.

Cost: $11, but if you’re willing to wait, student tix are just $9 on weeknights.
