Storm Could Bring Foot of Snow to Boston Area

A winter storm warning is in effect for Boston and its surrounding areas in anticipation of blizzard conditions that will strike the area on Monday.

Meteorologists expect up to 10 inches of snow to fall in the Boston area on Monday, with the heaviest snowfall occurring after 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will fall to 19 degrees by Monday afternoon. Winds could gust up to 33 mph.

The chance of snow will continue on Monday night, when another 1 to 3 inches of snow could fall. The low will be around 16 degrees, and winds could gust as high as 21 mph.

The City of Boston stated on Twitter that public schools will be closed Monday due to snow, although the city has not declared a snow emergency.

Snow is also likely to fall on Tuesday, with high temperatures reaching 31 during the day and low temperatures dropping to 22 degrees Tuesday night.

Snow showers are expected throughout Wednesday.
