Stabbing Reported at Mass Ave. and Albany

Boston University Police reported a stabbing at Massachusetts Ave. and Albany St. near Boston Medical Center around 6:30 p.m. No Boston University personal were involved, but the scene resulted in heavy police activity in the area. The suspect was described as a black male who fled the scene towards Melnea Cass Blvd. BUPD issued an all clear for the alert around 7 p.m. and police activity has dispersed.

This incident comes a week after a shooting occurred one block south at the corner of Massachusetts Ave. and Melnea Cass Blvd. The area, known as Methadone Mile, is a hub of treatment centers for people struggling with opioid addiction, mental illness and homelessness.

According to Universal Hub, the last stabbing at the location occurred in 2014 when a 21-year-old Cambridge resident was stabbed with a pair of scissors. The Boston Globe reported that the assailant was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assult with intent to kill.
