Robbie Baillargeon, a center on the Boston University hockey team, will play hockey at Arizona State during graduate school, according to the school’s Twitter account. A draft pick of the Ottawa Senators, Baillargeon was facing less playing time with a strong incoming freshman class.
The former fifth-round NHL draft pick was headed to his fourth and final season with BU.

After leading the team in scoring as a freshman, Baillargeon took a step back in recent years. He had 12 points in 2015-2016, with eight goals and eight assists while primarily centering the third line.
Arizona State just concluded its first season of Division-1 hockey, playing a modified schedule that included Division Three and club teams. The Independent conference team was led by freshman Jordan Masters in scoring with 22 points, with Joey Raats behind him with 14. Baillargeon would have been their third leading scorer.
The Sun Devils face a difficult road schedule in 2016-2017, which includes Hockey East opponents Boston College, New Hampshire, Northeastern, and UMass. Arizona State also faces Quinnipiac and Notre Dame, all familiar opponents for Baillargeon after three years at Boston University.
